October 19 Celebration -

     Parenting Day at Castlen was a huge success. with  over 250 parents and visitors attending a spectacular variety of learning activities as well as the grand opening of the outdoor classroom.  The grand opening ceremony was led by mistress of ceremonies, Gabi Trosclair. She introduced Haleigh Collier who led the pledge of allegiance to the flag. Jordan Eckert led the Castlen creed. First grade students sang the "Star Spangled Banner". Deputy Superintendent Martha Peek brought greetings from Superintendent Roy Nichols.  Dr. Judy Stout addressed the group concerning benefits of the outdoor classroom and PACE students entertained with a variety of gardening poems. Kindergartners sang "The Choo-Choo Train" song.  Second grade entertained with "Country Garden", while third graders sang a lively rendition of "Garden Hoedown" led by Mr. Bowler. Mrs. Adams recognized the outstanding support given to Castlen during the development of the outdoor classroom. Honorees were given spider plants potted by Castlen first graders.  Refreshments were served by Mrs. Bobel in the Buckaroo Cafe. A wonderful and rewarding day was enjoyed by all!
